World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Upgrades to items give players the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already have. This can be done through any item upgrader NPC. Upgrades increase the main stat of an item, and can also add additional features based on the type of item. Examples include Whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs, or Goldwraps for build casters. Armour Armour is among the key things that keeps Link safe from harm in all situations. Although it cannot be upgraded like weapons, you can still improve its defence capabilities in different ways. Armour is designed to protect animals or people from harm or injury, whether it's from a direct physical attack or a variety of environmental or activity hazards. In the past, armour was typically constructed from leather or fabric, but later metal protections were used as well particularly in military applications like heavy cavalry and combat drones. There are many ways to upgrade armour however the majority require you to visit one of four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different level of upgrade with higher levels of protection requiring more rupees as well as materials. First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been put in place, they can't be removed unless you own another piece of gear with the same upgrade. It is important that you only apply the most effective level of upgrades to your equipment and that you have the materials needed to complete the process. In terms of acquiring the upgrade components needed to upgrade your character, they are available in various locations around Hyrule, including shrines, merchants, and even enemies. Weapons If you're looking to make your guns unique, you can enhance them with a variety of special upgrades. They can increase the damage, change the weapon's stats to cater to your specific build, and even unlock new attachments such as unique enchantments, ammo types, and aesthetic options. To upgrade a weapon you'll require an upgrade component in place and the item. The weapon must be at a minimum of a certain level to upgrade it. Most weapons can only be upgraded by one upgrade. You can find weapon upgrade components scattered around the world and from enemies or purchased from vendors. The upgrade components themselves are made up of ingredients that can be slotted into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or other effect when they are in use. They require that the equipment be of a certain degree to be able to take the upgrade. They can be upgraded in the same way as other items. Upgrades are a combination of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to improve the effectiveness of weapons and enhance their scaling with other stats. These upgrades can be obtained from enemies in the open or from merchants. They are also dropped through combat. There are two NPCs who can upgrade your weapons: the Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will accept your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a more powerful version of the weapon as well as an enhancement. Prioritize upgrading your top-in-slot items first. Then upgrade those that you won't replace soon. If you're planning to play an asymmetrical build, for instance upgrade your weapon, then your shoulders and chest followed by your feet and hands. This makes them more useful for a player, or it could help them conquer a particularly challenging encounter. A weapon that is infused with an ingredient that is unique could be able to provide extra damage against a certain type of enemy. This is particularly beneficial for characters that have reached a point at which they will likely face the same kind of monster in dungeons repeatedly. A ring with an infusion could grant protection against piercing, bludgeoning or slashing damages from non-magical attacks (not including silver-plated ones) until the next time the character is taking a long rest. This can be particularly helpful for melee fighters, or any character who wishes to avoid the cost and hassle of purchasing shields. Certain objects with enchanted properties have special abilities that allow the character to cast spells that are not on their class list. This is helpful for characters who have difficulty filling their spell slots due to multiclassing. These items with enchanted abilities typically require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell cast is determined by rolling a table based on the number of Intelligence points expended. Other items that are enchanted can allow the user to alter their appearance, or create an entirely new appearance. These items can be especially beneficial for characters who were forced to leave their home or are located in an area where they may not be welcomed. A magical item could grant them invisibility or make them invisible to everyone except the chosen person. Utility Items Utility items are any equipment that does not fall into the categories of Clothing or Armor and come with a range of capabilities. Utility items are not compatible with each other, unlike Armor or Weapons. The majority of utility items come with a passive effect that the player can activate when using them. However, some have additional abilities which are activated by pressing a button, or by activating a skill. Generally, the most common kind of utilitarian item is the Flashlight that is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground. A variety of utilitarian items can be quickly created in the Engineering section while others can be unlocked through research projects or experimental projects in the Proving Ground. Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded for more efficient use. The majority of utility items boost the combat ability of a particular character or give the player a kind of navigation advantage. Sharpening stones, crafted by an Weaponsmith can boost power and Ferocity, while Maintenance Oils, created by an Huntsman can increase concentration and healing power. Other useful items like Writs and Theses crafted by the Scribe, can be used to give the player either a boost in Damage or Condition Damage. All XCOM soldiers can equip a useful item at the beginning of the campaign. Eventually, an additional slot becomes available through the use of certain types armor or by completing engineering, research or experimental projects in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters downloadable content, additional slots can be added by equipping an grenade Launcher. This enables the player to utilize the Smoke Grenade or Bomb while an offensive grenade is kept in the main slot.
